主要从事鱼类生殖细胞发育与前沿生物育种技术研究。揭示了若干调控鱼类生殖细胞发育和胚胎发育的关键因子及其作用机制；首创鱼类诱导性原始生殖细胞（iPGC）的新理论和新技术；首次实现鱼类基因编辑配子的借腹生殖（也称“借腹怀胎”）前沿育种技术的突破；受命从零开始建成了全球三大库之一的国家斑马鱼资源中心（http://zfish.cn），牵头完成“斑马鱼1号染色体全基因敲除计划”，相关成果入选国家“十三五”科技创新成就展。先后主持国家重点研发计划“发育编程及其代谢调节”重点专项等一批科研项目。在Advanced Science、Genome Research、Nature Communications、PLOS Biology、Development以及Cell Research、Science Bulletin、Science China-Life Sciences等国内外学术刊物上发表论文120余篇。相关论文入选Springer Nature年度亮点论文，被Faculty of 1000专门推荐，被国际知名学者专项Research 等。&lt;br /&gt;
