通过分子系统学、、基因组学、生态学野外实验等方法,开展鸟类的生态和适应性进化,特别是繁殖和迁徙行为的研究,探索进化和生态因素对于行为多样性的塑造。通过形态、鸣声、生态位模型和比较分析,研究中国濒危、特有物种的系统分类和地理分布。特别是探讨在当前快速全球化对于鸟类表型和的保护启示。
